MG Motor India is planning to launch a couple of new cars in India this year. One of which will be electric vehicles. Apart from this, MG is going to introduce several more models in India next year as well. An all-India news agency quoted Gaurav Gupta, deputy managing director of the organization, as saying in their report.
MG Motor is bringing two new cars to India this year
MG Motor India is moving towards increasing its market share in the electric vehicle market in India. Currently 25% to 30% of their sales come from EV models. And EVs account for only 2% of total vehicle sales in India. Experts are optimistic about the progress of the segment. Many are optimistic about the market share of electric vehicles reaching 4 percent in the near future.
This goal could be met by mid-2025 through infrastructure development, a better understanding of battery technology, and the introduction of new UV models by various companies. MG Motor entered the Indian market in 2019. Currently their portfolio includes a bunch of vehicles – Astor, Gloster, Hector 5-seater, Hector Plus, ZS EV SUV and Comet EV.
The Comet EV was launched last year as the cheapest e-car in India, witnessing the success of the ZS EV launched in 2020. The price then was Rs 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom). But recently they have reduced the price. Currently, it costs Rs 6.98 to buy it. Recently, Excite FC and Exclusive FC variants with fast charging facility have appeared. Which are priced at Rs 8.23 lakh and Rs 9.13 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
