Earlier this year, Truecaller announced partnerships with Indian telecom operators. The company came up with such a proposal so that telcos can easily fight against the growing spam and fraud. India’s third largest telecom company Vi (Vodafone-Idea) responded to Truecaller’s call.
Vodafone Idea joins Truecaller’s verified business caller ID solution
Vi recently entered into a new agreement with Truecaller, which will allow customers to securely manage phone calls or SMS. The purpose of this partnership between the two companies is to reduce the possibility of spam or fake phone calls.
Command yes! From now on all verified customer calls to Vodafone Idea will be handled by Truecaller’s Verified Business Caller ID solution. This service will help users to differentiate between genuine and spam calls. Green Collar ID, Verified Business Badge, Brand Name, Logo and Category Tag will be visible for verification. If any of these signs are missing then you need to understand that the call coming to your phone is not a verified phone call.
Another good thing is, through this service VI customers can know the reason for the call. Users will be able to know the reason for which he/she has been called. As a result, you don’t have to receive any unwanted phone calls when you are busy.
Ashish Sharma, EVP, Customer Services, Vodafone Idea said, “We know that customers don’t like unwanted calls and feel more secure when communicating through verified customer care channels. That is why we have partnered with this trusted caller ID service provider called Truecaller to offer secure and verified communication to our customers.”
Truecaller has already started offering AI-powered SMS fraud protection in India. This feature shows a red colored notification to alert users about spam messages. And this notification remains on the screen until removed by the user. Even if the user misses the notification, Truecaller automatically disables all links to spam messages. And these links will be activated only if the user manually marks the message as safe
Note that Truecaller call recording feature has returned to iPhone and Android only last month. The company had to stop this functionality due to policy changes by Apple and Google. And so the company is now using dedicated call recording lines like a cloud telephony provider to offer call recording.
