The method of collecting toll tax automatically in the toll booth has made major changes in the Fastag rule, which will be implemented from today, ie from February 7. The Central Road and Transport Ministry has decided to implement new rules across the country. Under this rule the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced new toll collection methods.
The goal of this rule is to facilitate toll payment and reduce the misery of the passengers. However, if these new rules are not adhered to, users may have double the toll fee. On January 25, the NPCI issued a circular that the new fastag rule would be implemented from February 1, 2021.
What is the new rule saying?
Blacklized Fastag : If a fastag is blacklisted during the toll transaction, the transaction will be rejected. Also, if the fastag is blacklisted at least 5 minutes before scanning, it will still be rejected.
Time : An additional deadline of 5 minutes has been introduced. This time users will be able to solve their fastag status before reaching the toll booth.
The consequences of being blacklisted: If a fastag is blacklisted even after reaching the toll, the user may have to pay double the toll fee. However, if the Fastag is recharged within 5 minutes of scanning, users can request any fine.
Delayed transaction: If the toll process is underway after more than 5 minutes of crossing the toll reader, additional charges may apply to fastag users.
Chargeback policy : Banks can start chargingback only after the 5 -day compulsory cooling period for blacklisted or low balance fastag.
What causes the blacklist?
Inadequate balance, non -payment of toll tax, payment failure, KYC does not update and the car chassis number or registration number may be blacklisted.
