It's hard to find a buyer in this undervalued market who isn't more interested in buying something cheap. The same is the case with electric scooters. That's why companies like Ola Electric, Ather Energy and others have launched low-cost electric scooters. Bajaj Auto is going to follow that path. According to an auto portal report, the cheapest variant of the company's traditional model Bajaj Chetak will be launched this month itself. It can appear for less than 1 lakh rupees.
The cheapest variant of Bajaj Chetak is launching in May
To keep the price down, the upcoming Bajaj Chetak gets solid colors instead of metallic and premium paint schemes. Instead of the alloy wheels of the Urban and Premium models, steel wheels are being offered. Companies can have drum brakes on both sides instead of disc brakes. It will reduce the cost of buyers.
The cheaper version of the Bajaj Chetak will come with a basic negative LCD display to keep the price down. Whereas the Urban and Premium variants have Bluetooth connectivity with TFT display and turn-by-turn navigation. In addition, two large pockets will be seen in the upcoming Chet to keep the phone. Whereas the higher variant will have a storage facility with a lock.
No information is known about the motor and battery pack of the low-priced Bajaj Chetak. There are speculations that the powertrain of the Urban variant may be used. All in all, it is believed that Bajaj will be able to keep the price of this model below one lakh rupees. Incidentally, Bajaj Chetak Urban and Bajaj Chetak Premium are currently priced at Rs 1.23 lakh and Rs 1.47 lakh respectively (ex-showroom).
