Although first launched for Facebook users, the avatar option has now become very popular on various social media platforms owned by Meta as well. For example, Meta recently launched the avatar calling feature for video calls on Instagram and Messenger. On the other hand, a few months ago, WhatsApp introduced an avatar option for use as a profile picture or sticker. In that case, it is heard that the company is working to bring animated avatar feature for WhatsApp to please millions of users.
Now your avatar on WhatsApp will be more alive
For those who don’t know, WhatsApp’s avatar is actually a feature that allows users to create a 3D digital replica or, simply put, a cartoon of themselves. It allows users to create millions of combinations of cartoons using compatible tools for facial structure, body shape, hairstyle, clothing, etc.
In that case, WhatsApp currently has the advantage of using still or still animated avatars. However, the instant messaging platform has recently introduced an avatar feature for both iOS and Android users. In this regard, they have introduced two new features, in which the option to configure one’s avatar through a photo is now available. On the other hand, the company has given access to a wider collection of avatars (meaning more variety of avatar cartoons) set up from the app settings. Not stopping there though, WABetaInfo claims in their report that they are working on an animated version of the avatar pack.
WhatsApp’s feature tracker WABetaInfo has also shared a video about the upcoming animated avatar feature. According to them, the WhatsApp company wants to give users a more expressive and lively chatting experience. However, it is not yet clear when exactly this feature will reach the fingertips.
