Asus ROG 5 durability test failed, breaks down under hand pressure. The Taiwanese tech company recently launched its next-generation gaming phone series – Asus ROG 5 series on 10th March globally. Surprisingly, The company claims that Asus ROG 5 comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus at the front, Gorilla Glass 3 at back, and an aluminium frame for protection.

Yesterday, A well-known YouTuber named Zack Nelson has published the durability test of the Asus ROG Phone 5 on his YouTube channel – jerry rig everything. As per the video, the phone’s vibratory went haywire and the bottom of the screen started facing issues when he applied some pressure to bend the smartphone. After a little more bend on the front made the display stopped working and the glass-coated back panel was cracked. Further, The fingerprint reader of the handset stopped working when Nelson made some scratches on it.


Interestingly, the phone successfully survived several other tests, including the scratch test and the heat test. The Youtuber also noticed a lack of rubber lining on the SIM tray for basic water protection. It is a major blow to the ROG phone fans who expected better durability from a premium high-end gaming smartphone that costs Rs 50000.

For those who are unaware, Asus ROG features a 6.78-inches FHD+ Samsung Super AMOLED Display (E4) with up to 144Hz refresh rate, 24.3ms touch latency, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. It is powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset and coupled with up to 18GB RAM + 512GB storage. For optics, The gaming device has 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, 13MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5MP macro shooter. On the front, there is a 24MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. It packs a 6,000mAh battery and supports 65W fast charging technology.
