Airtel Oneweb stands at the doorstep of launching satellite internet services. The telecom operator can start this service in the country before Sterling, a widely known Ilon Musk company. For the past few years, Airtel has been working on this technology. The company has already submitted its tender. It is reported that it will start after receiving the exemption.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met Elon Mask on a US visit. Elon Musk appointed the Prime Minister on technology and innovation in the midst of talks on various issues. As a positive reflection of this interview, some are hoping that it is not too late to launch a satellite -based broadband service in Sterlink in India.
It is to be noted that Airtel owned OneWeb recently contacted the telecom department. Airtel has held a meeting with the telecom office for expansion of services across the country. Right now, the company is trying to connect their twin Earth Station Gateway to the Lo-Earth Orbit (LEO) Global Satellite Network. Airtel is waiting for the exemption.
On that day, the company said in a letter that India could be established as a regional center for satellite broadband services in South Asia as a result of rapid approval. In the meantime, OneWeb has launched satellite broadband services in several countries in South Asia, except Pakistan and China. If approval is obtained, India can create a distinct identity in the satellite communication (SATcom) industry.
In this regard, onewest is currently providing services to the low-earth orbital satellite in 25 countries. India may soon be added to that list.
