Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have announced tariff hikes for their prepaid and postpaid plans from July 3. And following the two leading telcos, Vodafone Idea has also announced a hike in its recharge plan prices from July 4. However, the central government did not appear to interfere with this decision of the telecom operators. According to a report in Economic Times, the Center as well as TRAI want telecom operators to focus on improving the quality of services they provide. So the government will not interfere in the price hike decision.
In this context, a TRAI official told the newspaper that there is enough competition in the telecom industry. And this is not a particularly complicated situation, so the government did not object to this decision. However, customers may express some regret over the price hike. However, after three long years, the price of the recharge plan has been hiked, even marginally. So they should also accept this decision of telcos.
