3G network is shutting down, Vodafone Idea customers will get enhanced 4G services

Vodafone Idea, one of India’s leading telecom operators, plans to completely discontinue its 3G services in the next financial year. Vodafone Idea had about 125.6 million 4G wireless and 90 million 2G and 3G subscribers at the end of the third quarter of the year. That is, the total number of wireless subscribers of the company is about 215 million. However, in order to improve the quality of 4G services and increase the number of subscribers, Akshay Mundra, CEO of Vodafone Idea Limited recently said that they are planning to completely stop 3G services by 2025.

Notably, the company has already completely stopped 3G services in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Mumbai, Kolkata and Andhra Pradesh circles. Because, they want to provide advanced 4G services in all these places. This requires increasing the network capacity.

However, Vodafone Idea still continues to offer their 2G services. No announcement has been made regarding its closure yet. Perhaps the company doesn’t want to tread this path as many still use feature phones.

Meanwhile, Jio, one of India’s leading telecom operators, has suggested that the government come up with a policy to completely shut down 2G and 3G networks. They recently launched the Jio Bharat platform so that feature phone users can upgrade their feature phones to 4G by spending just Rs 1,000. Incidentally, Jio has only 4G and 5G networks.
