HP Foldable smartphone patent filed may feature a clamshell design. The foldable smartphones have become more popular nowadays more and more companies are patenting their foldable smartphones.
According to a LetsGoDigital report, After Microsoft surface Duo, Hp is also planning to enter into the foldable smartphone market with a clamshell design. HP is known for the production of laptops, tablets, printers, and other electronic gadgets. This foldable smartphone is the second smartphone offering from the company.
The HP Elite X3 is the first smartphone offering from the company that was launched in 2016. Although, the device is a Windows smartphone that can be easily connected to external monitors, keyboards for a full desktop experience. So might be the company is diving back into the smartphone market with this new foldable smartphone.
HP Foldable Smartphone patent
The company filed the utility patent in February 2019 with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office). The patent was approved on August 13, 2020, and describes the technology required to implement a flexible electronic display in mobile devices. The patent images show a clamshell design similar to the Motorola RAZR and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip with a wide hinge and a rectangular-shaped body. LetsGoDigital has made a series of 3D renders based on the patent sketches.
According to the reports, the HP is using an OLED panel for the display. The foldable concept Hewlett Packwart is working on can also be used to make a foldable laptop. However, the company hasn’t revealed anything about the foldable smartphone. We have to wait for the official announcement of the smartphone whether it is in works or not.
