T-Series filed a lawsuit against the short video platform Roposo for copyright infringement. The company has taken the matter to the Delhi High Court for violating the company’s copyright policies by Roposo.
According to the ET report, T-Series president Neeraj Kalyan said “The app is infringing content under the user-generated content. They are offering our music in their library and enticing users to upload our content in exchange for cash rewards. Their venture capitalists have not done due diligence, they are hand in glove”.
“We expect a company backed by global investors such as Tiger Global and Bertelsmann and operated and run by global names such as Glance InMobi to be well aware of the law and considerate of the market realities,” he added.
According to the report, Roposo extracts songs from the devices of its users and added to its Music Library. This shows that the TikTok like short video platform is allegedly using these tracks without buying the original copyright of the songs. Bollywood Hungama, Bollywood entertainment website also said: Roposo has been used T-Series songs on their video advertisements, contests, and creating effects and filters as well.
Now, T-Series warns Roposo to either stop providing its songs or sign a license agreement to legally provide the company’s music library. However, This is not the first time when T-series filed a lawsuit due to copyright infringement. In 2019, T-Series reportedly sued ShareChat for violating the company policy. Earlier this week, the video platform finally licensing with T-Series for music library and ended up all of their matters.
