What is happening! After OnePlus, this time the green line problem is in Nothing brand phones

London-based technology brand Nothing recently unveiled its budget-range Nothing Phone (2a) smartphone in several regions including India. At the time of launch, the device initially faced several performance and camera-related issues. However, the brand has resolved most of them with multiple updates later. But now some users of Nothing Phone (2a) handsets are facing a new problem. They complained about the infamous “green line issue” on their devices. Let's take a closer look at this software-centric problem.

Nothing Phone (2a) Handset has green line problem

Unwanted green lines appearing on the screen is a well-known problem in smartphones with OLED displays. Earlier, many users of Samsung (Samsung), Motorola (Motorola) and OnePlus (OnePlus) phones complained about this problem. Now Nathing's name has been added to this list. An X (Twitter) user shared a video and a few pictures of a Nothing Phone (2A) model with a vertical green line on the right side of the display. The image also reveals that the device has the latest Nothing OS 2.5.5.a update, which was rolled out around 19 days ago. This appears to be the first reported case of green lines appearing on the screen of the Nothing Phone (2A).

The Twitter user did not specify the source or timing of the issue. However, it is worth noting that most cases of green line issues on OnePlus and Samsung devices have occurred after software updates. Although the brands have not openly addressed the cause of this post-update problem, after much investigation it has been revealed that software updates change the display parameters, especially the voltage settings. And because of that, electrical faults can appear on the display, which appear on the screen as a green line of dead pixels.

However, there are also believed to be other reasons for green lines appearing on smartphone displays. For example, phone falling from a high place, display bending, or excessive pressure applied to the screen can cause internal damage and damage to the display connector or flex cable connecting it to the motherboard.

Nothing Phone (2a) Let's get back to the topic of handsets. So far, no Nothing Phone (2a) users have been seen reporting green line issues on X (formerly known as Twitter) or the Nothing Community Forum. So the X platform sharing issue is considered an isolated issue for now. As more reports in this regard come out, the matter will be clear.
