iQOO has finally officially announced that their iQOO Z9 series of smartphones will hit the market next month, i.e. April. The iQOO Z9 Turbo will be the latest model of this much awaited series. The company also confirmed that the big surprise will be the processor. The iQOO Z9 series is going to offer the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series processor. Let’s find out what information has emerged so far about the upcoming iCore Z-series phones.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset in iQOO Z9 series
The company announced that the iCo Z9 series will be launched next April with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 processor. Launched yesterday, the Snapdragon chip promises strong performance and ranks just below the current generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in terms of performance. This new octa-core processor from Qualcomm is made up of one Cortex-X4 prime core, four Cortex-A720 cores and three Cortex-A520 cores. It supports up to 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and offers advanced image and video processing capabilities with 18-bit Triple Cognitive ISP (ISP).
iQOO Z9 Series Specifications (Expected)
According to recent reports, the iCo Z9 series will include three models – standard iCo Z9, iCo Z9X and iCo Z9 Turbo. However, the standard and X variants are expected to be powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipsets respectively. Only the Turbo model is expected to come with the new Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 processor.
Noted tipster Digital Chat Station first hinted at the existence of the iQOO Z9 Turbo and also leaked a bunch of specifications. According to the tipster, the Turbo will sport a 6.78-inch OLED display with 144 Hz refresh rate, 2,800×1,260 resolution (1.5K) and 2,160 Hz PWM dimming. The device is expected to come with improved build and materials instead of plastic.
The iQOO Z9 series recently received CQC and CMIIT certification, which also revealed some of its features. The iQOO Z9 Turbo model will have an 80 watt charger, capable of supporting 11V 7.3A fast charging. The phone is rumored to have a massive 6,000 mAh battery.
For photography, the iQOO Z9 Turbo is expected to feature a dual-camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, though no information regarding the secondary sensor has surfaced yet. It is also reported that the phone will offer up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage and a short-focus in-display fingerprint sensor. In terms of software, the device is expected to run on OriginOS 4.0 custom skin based on the latest Android 14.
