Even after almost one and a half years, Vodafone Idea or Vi is yet to launch the new generation 5G network for its customers. The third major telecom operator of the country has come under fire from the government departments as well as the dissatisfaction of the common people. Now, spring has arrived, but Vi’s garden seems unlikely to bloom! No, this is not a poem, the fact is that the company currently makes its eSIM service available only to prepaid customers of select telecom circles. Moreover, postpaid customers are being given priority in eSIM services by Vodafone. Although the adoption of this digital SIM in India is still in its early stages and only works on a select few smartphone models in the flagship range, any move or restriction on Vi’s eSIM service could have a detrimental effect on its customer base, as most now want to stay updated with the times.
Who will get Vi’s eSIM now?
If you are a Vodafone Idea subscriber and want to avail all services digitally without a SIM card, first ensure that your phone has e-SIM support. For this you can contact VI’s customer care team or visit the company’s website. And remember that for now only prepaid users of Mumbai, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Punjab circles will be able to get e-SIM. That is, if you are a user of other parts of the country or circle, you will not get this benefit – the telco’s website is also saying the same. However, their decision may change in the future.
In comparison, Vodafone-Idea has more e-SIM services available for postpaid customers. In this case residents of Kolkata, Rest of Bengal, Mumbai, Delhi, Gujarat, Punjab, Maharashtra, Goa, UP (East), Karnataka, Kerala, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (West) and Bihar circles. You can avail the service.
So if you live in West Bengal and want to avail Vodafone e-SIM right now, then you need to use their postpaid connection. And to transfer your regular or physical SIM to e-SIM or get a new e-SIM, contact the nearest VI store or contact the company’s customer care team helpline.
