BYD is about to bring its third electric car to India. They will launch an e-sedan named Seal on March 5. It is set to join the Atto 3 and e6 in the company’s portfolio in India. The Seal EV made its debut at the Delhi Auto Expo in January last year. As a result, the wait is over after a year.
BYD Seal EV: Interior
BYD Seal EV comes with premium looks and soft-touch materials. The first thing to notice in the dashboard area is the 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system that can be rotated as desired. The same display is present in the Atto 3 model as well. Besides, there is another display of 10.25 inches for the driver. The car also gets a head-up display and two separate wireless charging pads.
BYD Seal EV: Battery and Range
BYD has always been in the headlines for its use of technology. The Seal EV model features Blade Battery Technology. The car is available in two battery options in the international market. The first is 61.4 kWh, which is capable of traveling up to 550 km on a single charge. The second one is 82.5 KWh. Its range is about 700 km.
BYD Seal EV: Safety Rating
The Seal EV is set to debut as India’s safest electric vehicle yet. It received a 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash test. Safety features on the Seal EV include dual front airbags, belt pretensioners, belt load limiters, side airbags, central airbags, Isofix child seat mounts, airbag cut off switch and seat belt reminder. Other features are autonomous emergency braking, lane assist system and driver attention detection.
BYD Seal EV: Motor and Possible Price
Seal EV is available in single PMS and dual electric motor options. The Indian version may use a more powerful dual motor. It is capable of producing a maximum power of 523 bhp which helps it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The price can be kept between Rs 65-70 lakh (ex-showroom).
