The electric motorcycle market has started expanding slowly. Every now and then many companies are coming out with latest model e-bikes. Yamaha is one such brand that has unveiled electric motorcycle concepts in the past. But it is not yet available in the market for general buyers. However, new reports indicate that Yamaha's first electric bike launch is not long in coming.
Yamaha has registered a design patent for a high-performance electric sports bike. As seen in the picture, the battery pack of Yamaha e-sports bike is placed where the engine is in the engine driven motorcycle. While high-performance electric bikes typically feature liquid-cooled batteries, Yamaha's model will feature air-cooled technology. Because there are multiple fins at the bottom and sides of the battery case.
The major motive behind the selection of air-cooled battery may be to keep the weight of the bike low No liquid cooled system eliminates the need for radiators, coolant reservoirs, and additional piping. The battery is clamped into the trellis frame. For suspension there are USD forks at the front and monoshock at the rear. Behind the battery pack sits the big and powerful motor. The patent image gives more insight into the design of Yamaha's electric bike.
The design of alloy wheels is clearly understood The bike has dual disc brake at the front and single disc brake at the rear. The fairing and tail section are very stylish. Several parts of the trellis frame are left exposed. There is no information yet on when Yamaha can launch this electric sports bike. But it is expected to be very soon.
