On July 19, 2019, Hyundai launched their first electric SUV in India, the Kona Electric. But Hyundai quietly stopped the sale of the electric car in this country in June 2024 without completing 5 years of its arrival. Although not officially announced by the company, the car has been removed from the website. As a result, speculation increased.
In fact, it is believed that the company's first month market electric SUV Creta EV will be launched in January. Kona Electric was Hyundai's first electric vehicle in India. But not keeping up with the times, outdated interiors, crossover styling in the era of SUVs – the sales of the car were stuck due to various reasons.

Detailed specifications of the Hyundai Creta EV are yet to be revealed. It is estimated that the car will provide a range of 400-500 km on a full charge. It may compete with the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV. The vehicle will be based on a new electric skateboard platform. Competitors of Creta EV in the market include MG ZS EV, upcoming Tata Curvv, BYD ATTO 3 and Mahindra XUV400.
