Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Maruti Suzuki have a long-standing alliance. By bringing each other’s rebadge models, they are strengthening their relationship. The Indo-Japanese company has recently launched the new MPV Invicto in India as a rebranded model of the Toyota Innova Hycorss. Earlier, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara came as a twin model of Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider. According to sources, Toyota has started preparing to bring the rebadge model of Maruti Suzuki’s popular family car Ertiga this year. Which may be launched in the country by September under the name Toyota Rumion.
Toyota Rumion: Design
Recently, due to the increase in the demand for multipurpose vehicles or MPVs, the two organizations tied to the knot have taken initiatives to increase their resources in the respective fields. However, it should be noted that Toyota Rumion is making its debut in India but has been sold in the South African market since 2021. It is estimated that the car may appear in this country in September this year, i.e. the month just before Puja. However, no official message has been received from the company.
In terms of design and styling, Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Rumion are almost similar. Toyota’s own signature grille, badges and alloy wheels are there to differentiate it from the rebadge model. Again some slight changes will be noticed in the design of the interior. The car will come with an all-black theme with a layout and features similar to the Artiga. It will be offered in a 7-seat configuration.
Toyota Rumion: Features
Like the Ertiga, the top-end variant of the Rumion will get these four exclusive features – automatic headlamps, cruise control, airbags, leather-wrapped steering wheel. The feature list includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other features include 6-speaker audio system, Suzuki Connect connected feature, height adjustable driver seat, automatic AC unit, push start/stop button, electronic stability program, hill hold assist, ISOFIX anchorage, rear parking sensor, ABS with EBD and brake assist.
Toyota Rumion : Engine
The Ertiga and its rebadged version Toyota Rumion will not have any engine differences. A 1.5 liter petrol engine will provide the power to move forward. It will produce 103 bhp of power and 137 Nm of torque. The car can be optioned with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The Rumion will also be offered in CNG fuel later. The new car is expected to be priced close to the price of the Ertiga. The current market price of Ertiga starts from Rs 8.64 lakh to Rs 13.08 lakh (ex-showroom).
