Apart from mileage, features, people are now buying cars based on safety ratings. Tata, along with Mahindra, now also offers maximum protection to German cars. Volkswagen-owned Skoda of Germany sent their cheapest sub-compact SUV, the Kylaq, to the India NCAP crash test. The car has set a precedent by getting a five star rating there. The top-spec Prestige MT model was safety tested. This rating applies to all variants of the Skoda Kylaq and all models manufactured after last December.

India tested the front-offset, side movable, and side pole impact protection of the Encap Kylac. For adult passengers, the Skoda car scored 30.88 out of 32 points across all tests. And it scored 45.00 out of 49.00 points for child passenger protection.
Safety features
Apart from the mandatory safety features like dual front airbags, rear parking sensors and speed alert notification, Skoda Kylac offers side head curtain airbags, side chest airbags, side pelvis airbags, Isofix and electronic stability control system.
Specifications and Price
Each variant of the Kylac is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine Which produces 115 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic. The car is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 10.5 seconds. Currently priced in the Indian market from Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom).
