The use of CNG among alternative fuels is increasing in India. After Maruti Suzuki in the country, Tata Motors has also focused on increasing its portfolio of such fuel-efficient models. The domestic auto giant has recently launched the Altroz CNG with twin CNG tanks in the country. This time they are planning to add the same technology to their two more entry level CNG vehicles. These are – Tiago and Tigor. Currently the car is sold with two single CNG tanks.
Tata will offer dual CNG tanks in Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG
Instead of one large CNG tank, splitting it into two smaller tanks will increase the space in the vehicle. As a result, there will be no worry about keeping things because there is less space in the car. So Tata is now gearing up to launch its Tiago and Tigor cars with the said technology as the company has already filed a patent for Tiago and Tigor in India with twin cylinder CNG. May be launched soon.
It is heard that the same technology will be offered in Punch CNG as well. In this context, the Punch and Altroz models share the same platform. Again, the best-selling model Nexon SUV in the company’s lineup may be replaced by a CNG model instead of the diesel variant. So that the cost of travel is comparatively less.
Talking about Tata Altroz CNG, it has emerged as the cheapest car in the country with sunroof feature. It has a 1.2 liter three cylinder engine. The powertrain produces 88 hp and 113 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the output of the CNG version is 77 HP and 103 Nm of torque. The vehicle is given facility to start in CNG mode. Under the boot floor is a 30 liter dual cylinder tank.
