As always, Tata Motors maintained its dominance in the Indian electric car world in May. The Nexon EV, Tiago EV and Tigor EV combined sold a total of 5,805 units in the previous month. As a result, compared to the same period last year (3,505 units), Tata saw a 66 percent improvement in May sales. This success can be attributed to the launch of the country’s cheapest electric four-wheeler Tiago EV earlier this year. The electric hatchback sold over 10,000 units within just four months of its launch.

However, Tata’s electric car sales in May saw a slight decline compared to April. In April, Tata handed over the keys to electric vehicles to a total of 6,516 buyers. EVs contributed 8% of their company’s total passenger vehicle sales in May. Tata sold a total of 73,448 passenger vehicles in the previous month.
Tiago EV is the latest addition to Tata’s EV lineup. This is their cheapest battery powered model. It is also named as one of the most affordable electric cars in the country. The current price of Tiago EV has gone from Rs 8.69 lakh to Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is also known as the fastest booking battery car in the country.
Tata Tiago EV has a range of 315 km. The car’s electric motor produces 74 hp and 114 Nm of torque. Capable of accelerating from 0-60 km/h in 5.7 seconds. The battery takes less than an hour to charge from 10-80%. On the other hand, Nexon EV family includes Nexon EV Max and Nexon EV Prime. It is currently the best-selling electric car in the country. The car is available in EV Max, EV Prime and Dark Ed. The Tigor EV, on the other hand, is the only sedan to come in an electric version.
