‘Eco-conscious’ Tata Motors has been active in expanding its portfolio of CNG models. Therefore, the company is seen launching new CNG vehicles in its lineup at regular intervals. After Tiago and Tigor CNG, Nexon CNG has started preparations for launch. Again this model was displayed by Tata on the stage of Bharat Mobility Show 2024.
What will the Tata Nexon CNG look like?
Tata Nexon is the first car in the CNG segment to feature a turbo-petrol CNG engine. After the launch it will go head to head with the Maruti Brezza CNG. The car is expected to hit the market before Diwali, though the company has not revealed the exact timing of the launch. The company has confirmed that the Nexon CNG is being launched this year.
Powering the Tata Nexon CNG going forward is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with the company’s Twin CNG cylinder technology. However, Tata has not disclosed about its output and mileage. Like the Tiago and Tigor CNG, it also has a twin CNG cylinder setup which will give it more boot space.
The design and styling of the Nexon CNG will be similar to the petrol and diesel versions of the model. It has an ECU to switch from CNG to petrol mode. Interestingly, the engine can be started by keeping it in CNG mode. Incidentally, apart from the Nexon CNG, Tata has confirmed that it will launch the Curvv SUV Coupe model this year. The electric version will be brought to the market first. The company has confirmed that it will also come with a turbocharged diesel engine.
