BSNL completed 60,000 subscribers in their Kolkata circle. The state-run telco recently disclosed this information on social media platform X. However, this number is not that high. However, BSNL considers crossing 60,000 subscribers in circles like Kolkata, where private telecom operators are leveraging their brand image and marketing prowess to top the customer preference list.
Incidentally, BSNL launched its Bharat Fiber (FFTH) service on 1st October 2020 with just four plans, which are now bundled with various OTT facilities. However, the telco's subscriber base has not grown as much as its internet speed is lower than others and it doesn't offer 5G services.
However, they have structured their portfolio with different pricing plans to attract customers. In this context, the portfolio of this state-run company has monthly and annual plans starting from Tk 249 to Tk 4,799.
Although, BSNL Bharat Fiber offers several great plans, its subscriber addition speed is much slower than Jio Fiber and Airtel Extreme Air Fibre. However, BSNL is now ranked third in terms of market share in the online segment as per the data published by TRAI as on 31st March 2024. And it is expected that in the coming days, this state-run telco will compete with other private telecom companies on an equal footing.
