At present, intensive practice has started around the arrival of Tesla (Tesla) in India. Recently, billionaire Elon Musk’s company said that they are ready to build an electric car factory in this country. Two days after the US company’s announcement, Build Your Dreams or BYD, one of the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers, also offered to build a battery-powered and plug-in hybrid vehicle factory in the country. According to Reuters, the Chinese company is planning to invest a total of 100 million dollars or about 8,216 million rupees. As a result, India’s electric car market will become more prominent on the global map, which is a no-brainer.
BYD offers to build electric vehicle factory in India
The renowned Chinese company has already submitted a proposal to the concerned authorities to open a joint venture factory with Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering and Infrastructures. According to the report, the Chinese company is thinking of producing different types of electric vehicles in the country. This includes hatchbacks to SUVs.
Currently BYD’s Indian portfolio includes – Atto 3 electric SUV and e6. Both the models are manufactured in India across the components. Assembly work is done at the company’s factory in Chennai. While the Atto 3 car is available for personal use, the e6’s range is limited to B2B or commercial use.
While BYD is the world’s largest maker of electric vehicles, it is being outmatched by US rival Tesla in terms of sales. The Tesla Model Y is currently the most in-demand plug-in electric car. It sold 7,86,000 units last year. On the other hand, Song, Yuan Plus and Qin are the best selling cars of the Chinese company.
