The micro SUV Hyundai Exter was launched in the Indian market on July 10. It has arrived in the country as the South Korean company’s cheapest SUV model to rival the Tata Punch. The price of which starts from Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has announced that the car has crossed 10,000 bookings. Incidentally, the booking started from last May 8. At the same time, the mileage of the Hyundai car has been reported.

The manual transmission model of the Hyundai Exter is claimed to run 19.4 km and the automatic variant 19.2 km on 1 liter of petrol. The company is hopeful that many people will be attracted by the mileage figures in the low-priced market. Again with the factory-fitted CNG kit, the model is capable of running 27.1 km on one kg of fuel.
Even if the mileage figure of Hyundai Exter makes many people want to buy it, the car does not fall short in terms of styling. Its bonnet is quite tall and flat giving it a muscular look. It features vertical split headlamps. Silver scuff plates and bold “EXTER” badging add a new dimension to the front design. At the rear too, there are square shaped taillamps with a scuff plate of aggressive design.
Exter’s feature list includes 6 airbags, electric sunroof, steering mounted paddle shifters, Highline tire pressure monitoring system, dash cam with dual cameras, wireless phone charger etc. Other features include three-point seat belts for all passengers and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The main rival of the car is – Tata Punch.
The Hyundai Exter is powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated Kappa petrol engine to provide propulsion. From which maximum power of 83 PS and torque of 113 Nm will be produced. The CNG version outputs 69 PS of power and 95.2 Nm of torque. The car is available in 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmission options.
