Redmi 9A finally announced in India as a new entry-level smartphone from Xiaomi‘s sub-brand. Redmi 9A was already launched in Malaysia in July along with Redmi 9C. The smartphone comes with the latest octa-core chipset from MediaTek and it’s the first phone to be powered by MediaTek Helio G25 SoC. The new phone comes in two RAM configurations but the storage is the same and available to buy in three different color options.

Redmi 9A features a 6.53-inch HD+ IPS LCD WaterDrop Otch display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core chipset, coupled with up to 3GB of RAM. The device runs MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box. You can expand your storage by a microSD card up to 512 GB.
In terms of camera, the smartphone comes with a single 13 MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture. For selfies, the phone has a 5 MP camera on the front with f/2.2 aperture inside a waterdrop notch. The new device is packed with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging. Xiaomi claimed that it uses Enhanced Lifespan Battery (ELB) technology, and using this technology the Redmi 9A battery is said to last three years without losing capacity.
For Connectivity, the phone includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a Micro-USB port. For security the phone has an AI face unlock and the phone is splash resistant because of P2i coating. In terms of dimensions, the device measures 164.9×77.07x9mm and weigh 194 grams.
Redmi 9A Price and Availability
The Redmi 9A is launched in two RAM options, the 2GB + 32GB variant is priced at Rs. 6,799 and the 3GB + 32GB variant is priced at Rs. 7,499. The phone has three color options namely, Nature Green, Midnight Black, and Sea Blue. The phone will go on sale for the first time in India on September 4 at 12 pm via Mi.com, Amazon, Mi Home. It will soon reach the offline retail stores as well.
