Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 SoC key specification has been tipped online. The chipset maker could be using TSMC’s 4nm process technology for their upcoming flagship processor. Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 SoC will be paired with Adreno 730 GPU and an integrated Snapdragon X65 5G Modern-RF system.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 SoC specifications (expected)
Recently, A well-known tipster named Evan Blass shared the key specifications of Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chipset. As per the tipster, The Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 will be manufactured on 4nm process technology.
The CPU has Qualcomm Kryo 780 cores based on “Arm Cortex v9 technology.” The ARMv9 architecture was introduced earlier this year and the first CPU designs to be revealed using the new technology were the Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510. The X2 super-large core has increased the performance by 16% compared to the X1 while the performance of the A510 small core will boost up to 35% with 20% efficiency improvement and a 3x boost in ML performance. So, It is believed that the Snapdragon 888’s successor could be using these three CPU core designs, likely in a 1 x 3 x 4 configuration (1X Cortex-X2, 3X-Cortex-A710, 4X Cortex-A510.).
For connectivity, Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 will support Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6E. In terms of GPU, The Snapdragon 895 will be coupled with Adreno 730 GPU for graphics, and Spectra 680 ISP will be used for imaging. The additional features will include the support of Qualcomm’s Aqstic WCD9380/WCD9385 audio codec, Qualcomm’s secure processing unit (SPU260), quad-channel package-on-package LPDDR5 RAM, Adreno 665 video processing unit (VPU), and Adreno 1195 display processing unit (DPU).
In related news, A Lenovo executive confirmed that Qualcomm SM8450 (Snapdragon 895) will use TSMC’s 4nm process instead of Samsung this time. There are some performance and heating issues faced by the Snapdragon 888 smartphone users, So, It might be the reason Qualcomm will choose TSMC process technology over Samsung which they used in its Snapdragon 888 chipset.
However, there is no official information on what will be the name of Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chipset. Snapdragon 895, or Snapdragon 899? What are your expectations from Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset? Do let us know your views in the comment section.
