MediaTek Dimensity 720 announced, providing 5G experiences on mid-tier smartphones


MediaTek Dimensity 720 announced, The 7nm chipset providing 5G experiences and decent performance on mid-tier smartphones. The Smartphone which will be powered by Dimensity 720 can support up to Full-HD+ (2520 x 1080) display resolution with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 90Hz refresh rate.


MediaTek Dimensity 720 is an octa-core chipset built on the 7nm TSMC process node. It paired with two ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores which are clocked at up to 2.0GHz. It can be connected Up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM and also supports UFS 2.2 storage type.

Features of MediaTek Dimensity 720


  • MediaTek Dimensity 720 supports up to 64Megapixel or 20+16Megapixel dual cameras configuration and can record up to 4K (H.264/265) videos at 30 FPS. Additionally, the chipset powered by MediaTek’s integrated APU (AI Processing Unit) for a range of AI-camera enhancements.
  • It Supports up to 90Hz high frame-rate displays for fast, smooth gaming and streaming experience
  • For Superior video streaming, It comes with MiraVision HDR10+ video playback which supports a variety of video features including dynamic range remapping.
  •  To minimize the power consumption of always-on voice assistants, It integrated with Voice Wakeup (VoW), and dual-mic noise suppression for voice assistants.


For Connectivity, MediaTek Dimensity 720 includes 5G Multi-Mode, Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi 5, and even NavIC support for Indian users. It will provide download speeds up to 2.35Gbps. Additionally, the chipset is offering add-on features named 5G UltraSave which helps in lower the data usage and Dynamic BWP to make it more power-efficient.


Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager, Wireless Communications Business Unit, MediaTek said “The Dimensity 720 sets a new standard, delivering feature-packed 5G experiences and technology to devices that are more accessible to mass-market consumers”.


“This chip is highly power-efficient, has impressive performance and advanced display and imaging technologies. All of that combined will help brands usher in differentiated 5G devices for consumers around the globe,” he added.


MediaTek Dimensity 720 is basically a slightly-lower variant of the Dimensity 800-series chipsets. The company has not confirmed any information when Dimensity 720-powered phones will be seen in the market but, it is expected to see affordable 5G phones launch with this 5G chipset in the next couple of months.
