Country's largest passenger car maker Maruti Suzuki yesterday announced recall of 2,555 units of its Alto K10 model. Those models may have a defect in the steering gearbox assembly, the company said. This is likely to affect the ability to steer the vehicle in some cases.
Maruti is recalling the Alto K10 car
As an advance notice, Maruti Suzuki has prohibited the affected vehicles from being driven or used until the relevant parts are replaced. The authorized dealerships of the Indo-Japanese company will contact the owners of the defective vehicles and replace the affected part free of cost after inspection.
Incidentally, in March this year, Maruti Suzuki recalled 16,000 units of its two best-selling cars, the Baleno and the WagonR. The cause was said to be a problem with the fuel pump. If not fixed, engine stall or difficulty in starting could be seen.
Please note that the tenth generation Maruti Alto is likely to be launched in 2026 or 2027. It is claimed to be 100 kg lighter than the current model. This weight loss will be made possible by the addition of a smaller and more efficient petrol engine. Also, Maruti may try to reduce weight by making changes in hardware and architecture.
