Maruti Suzuki Alto entered the market as a middle-class savior car. The hatchback car set a new record in sales despite a slight decline in popularity due to the rising demand for SUVs in Halfil. Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced sales of 45 lakh Alto cars since its launch. Over the past two decades, the car has been the companion of countless buyers. Currently, the Indo-Japanese company sells only the Alto K10 model in the country. Alto 800 has been discontinued since April this year.
Maruti Suzuki Alto now belongs to 45 lakh Indian households
In that year 2000, Maruti Alto started its way in the Indian market. In 2004, it became the best selling car in the country. Due to low maintenance cost, high mileage, this cheap car has become the trusted companion of many middle class buyers. Comparable space is available in the cabin of the car. Again, the huge network of the company has freed the customers from the worry of going for remote servicing.
The current market price of Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has gone from Rs 3.99 lakh to Rs 5.96 lakh (ex-showroom). It offers a 1.0 liter Dualjet petrol engine. It produces a maximum power of 66 bhp and a torque of 89 Nm. The car is available in 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmission options. The CNG powertrain outputs 56 bhp and 82 Nm of torque. It is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It has idle engine start/stop technology.
Commenting on Alto’s new milestone, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Over the past two decades, the Alto brand has created a strong emotional bond with customers. We are very proud of this remarkable journey of Alto. It has achieved the milestone of 45 lakh subscribers.” Srivastava said that he is confident that sales of Alto will increase further in the future.
