It was speculated to be called Thar Armada. Even recently, the front and side pictures of this SUV were leaked. Now Mahindra has revealed the official name and design of the car.
The five-door Mahindra Thar will be named Thar Rox. The new version is set to arrive on the same date this year (read August 15) that the car was first launched on four years ago. The company unveiled the design through a teaser video, which gave an idea of the new Thar's looks. Along with the extra two doors, the wheelbase has increased in length.
The Mahindra Thar Rox has also received subtle updates to the design. There are new round headlights and grille. But it will not be difficult to understand that it is part of the Thar family. The five-door is available with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The gearbox will have six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission options.
The Thur Rox will definitely offer a four-wheel drive system. A cheaper variant may also be launched, which will get rear wheel drive. The price of this new sports utility vehicle can start from Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-end model is expected to be priced between 25 lakhs.
