Bajaj-Triumph duo Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X debuted in the international market a few days ago. Ending the wait, two motorcycles are going to be launched in India today. Bajaj Auto will be in charge of production. Experts claim that Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X will challenge Royal Enfield. Let’s know the details of Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X before the launch.
Bajaj-Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X: Engine and Gear Box
Both bikes are powered by Triumph’s TR series engine. The 398.15 cc engine is single cylinder and relies on liquid cooling technology. The engine can produce a maximum power of 39.5 bhp at 8000 rpm and a maximum torque of 37.5 Nm at 6500 rpm. It comes with a six-speed manual gearbox with a slipper clutch.
Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X: Chassis and Suspension
Both cases use the same type of perimeter frame but the subframes are different. Suspension duties are handled by 43 mm wide piston forks at the front and gas charged monoshock absorbers at the rear. Although the Scrambler 400X gets bigger suspension than the Speed 400.
Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X: Braking System
Both Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X have 230mm discs at the rear wheel. However, while the Scrambler 400X has a relatively large 320mm disc on the front wheel, the Speed 400 model uses a 300mm disc. However, both the bikes have dual channel ABS as standard. Although the Scrambler 400X ABS can be switched on and off via the switch.
Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X: Wheel Size and Tires
The Triumph Speed 400 gets 17-inch alloy wheels at the front and rear. There are tires suitable for normal road traffic. On the other hand, Scrambler 400X uses dual purpose tires on its wheels. 19-inch alloy wheels are fitted at the front while 17-inch wheels are at the rear.
