Kirin 9000 and 9000E announced along with Huawei Mate 40 series. The processors come with improved performance, battery efficiency, enhanced network features, and 5G connectivity. After Apple’s A14 Bionic chip and Samsung Exynos 1080, Kirin 9000 series also based on the 5nm Fabrication Process.

Kirin 9000 and 9000E both are based on a 5nm fabrication process and adopt 8-core designs that include a 3.13GHz Cortex-A77 super core, three 2.54GHz Cortex-A77 large cores, and four 2.05GHz Cortex-A55 power efficiency cores. Both of the chipsets have a 3.13Ghz base frequency that is slightly higher as compared to the 3.1Ghz of the Snapdragon 865 Plus. The new processor is integrated with 15.3 billion transistors and it is the first processor to have more than 15 billion transistors.

In terms of GPU, the Kirin 9000 is coupled with a 24-core Mali-G78 GPU while 9000E SoC comes with 22-core Mali-G78 that is stated as the most powerful GPU compared to any Huawei Device ever. The performance is increased by 60% compared to Mali G76 GPU. In terms of NPU, the kirin 9000 features 2 large cores and 1 tiny core while the 9000E sports a large core and a tiny core.


The chipset is provided with the industry’s first four-network synergy technology that can efficiently integrate Wi-Fi 2.4GHz, Wi-Fi 5Ghz, main sim 5G, and secondary sim 4G, and brings aggregated high network speed, better network optimization. Both of the chipsets features Balong 5000 5G baseband, ISP 6.0, security module, support LPDDR5/4X memory, and UFS flash memory support, support for HiFi sound quality, 4K HDR video, etc.
