South Korean company Kia entered India in 2019 with the launch of the Seltos SUV. Since then they have witnessed unprecedented success in the Indian market. This time Kia has touched the milestone of selling 1 million 10 lakh cars in the country in the shortest time. This record was created before the completion of 59 months i.e. 5 years.
Kia set the precedent of selling 10 lakh cars in India
The Celts played the biggest role in the rise of Kiara. 48 percent of Kia's total sales come from this mid-size SUV. Currently the price of the car starts from Tk 10.89 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, Sonnet Kia contributed 34 percent and Karens 14 percent to Kia's total sales. The two cars now cost Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 10.51 lakh respectively (ex-showroom).
You may be surprised to hear that Kia claims that 42 percent of its sales come from the top trim of the car. As a result, they completely broke the idea that India is a price sensitive market. They have an important role to play in increasing the use of automatic and new transmission technologies in this country. Currently, Kia offers three automatic transmissions – IVT, SixT, and SevenDCT. The company launched the Intelligent Manual Transmission in 2020. Kia petrol and diesel car ratio is 59:41.
Junsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India said, “Since launch, we have been consistently achieving milestones in record time. This success becomes very important when you face diversity in every field and big companies with decades of experience. 1 million sales in India demonstrates our commitment to the domestic market.”
