Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India or HMSI (HMSI) is suddenly going to turn its attention to 160 cc motorcycles. The Japanese company has already launched the new version of the updated Unicorn 160. This time it is heard that another new model is going to be launched based on this same platform. Which may be named – SP 160. As the name suggests, the bike is actually going to be a bigger version of the SP 125. That’s why the similarities between the two models will be noticeable. It is reported that the refined engine of Unicorn 160 will be used.
The Honda SP 160 will be launched in India in August
Like the Unicorn, the Honda SP 160 will be powered by the 162.7 cc, air-cooled, single cylinder OBD2 updated engine that produces 12.9 hp of power at 7,500 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine is going to be mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The SP 160 will largely follow the SP 125 in terms of design. However, it will have a slightly smaller 12 liter fuel tank than the Unicorn, weighing 141 kg, which is 2 kg less than the Unicorn. The SP 160 will come with 17-inch wheels. Whereas the Unicorn has 18 inch wheels.
A 276 mm disc brake is provided at the front to handle the braking duties. Buyers can choose the bike with 220mm disc or 130mm drum rear brake. In other words, SP 160 can be chosen in two variants, drum and disc. Talking about the price, an estimated price of Rs 1.09 lakh (ex-showroom) can be charged. Reports claim that the Honda SP 160 could be officially launched in the Indian market next month.
