Lately the demand for 350 to 500 cc motorcycles in India is seen to be increasing at a great rate. There is also an urge among organizations to meet this demand. In order to meet the needs of the buyers, there is no gap left, the trend of joining forces between the two companies is noticeable. For example recently Triumph-Bajaj and Hero MotoCorp-Harley Davidson jointly launched bikes.
Triumph-Bajaja’s Speed 400 has taken buyers by storm due to its attractive price tag (2.23 lakh) as soon as it was launched. Again the Hero-Harle joint venture X440 is priced starting from Tk 2.29 lakh. So if one is looking for a motorcycle under 500cc, then X440 and Speed 400 can be the best choice. Now the question is which model is ahead of the other in terms of features and price. This report therefore presents a comparison between the two models.
Harley-Davidson X440 and Triumph Speed 400: Design
At present Harley-Davidson X440 and Triumph Speed 400 motorcycles are at the center of popular culture. Talking about the design, the X440 features a sleek yet muscular fuel tank, blacked out instruments, rounded headlights, wide bars and neutral set footpegs. It offers different color options and upright seating position.
Whereas the Triumph Speed 400 follows the Speed 900 in terms of design. It features bright colors, wide bars, side-slung exhaust and premium components. So in this case Speed 400 is slightly ahead of X440.
Harley-Davidson X440 and Triumph Speed 400: Engine Specifications
Harley-Davidson X440 is powered by a 440 cc single cylinder, oil cooled engine. According to the company, Harley had to make extensive cuts in this engine to maintain the characteristics of its genre.
On the other hand, the Triumph Speed 400 features a 398 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine. Which will produce more power than the X440. A 6-speed transmission is available on both the motorcycles.
Harley-Davidson X440 and Triumph Speed 400: Features
Almost identical equipment is present on both the motorcycles. Like a USD fork, alloy wheels, two wheel disc brakes, tubeless tires, dual channel ABS, adjustable rear suspension etc. Again there are some differences in features.
The base model of the X440 comes with spoke wheels. Whereas alloy wheels are offered on higher variants. It has 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. Among other differences, the X440 has dual shocks, while the Speed 400 has a monoshock.
Harley-Davidson’s model is ahead in terms of connectivity features. It has full TFT dash with smartphone connectivity. Whereas the Triumph has a semi digital console. Meanwhile, Triumph has offered a traction control system on their bike. which is absent in Hurle’s model.
Harley-Davidson X440 and Triumph Speed 400: Which one is wise to buy?
Visually, both the motorcycles have been given mind-blowing designs. Harley-Davidson offered laid back engines in their models, while Triumph offered brisk motors. Both are capable of driving on congested city streets and highways. So if the engine output is judged then the Triumph model is ahead.
