Xiaomi enters 9 years in India, will launch the new Redmi smartphone on the occasion of the ninth anniversary

The number series of Redmi, one of the most popular sub-brands of Xiaomi, was launched in the Indian market in 2014. Nine years have passed since then and so far eleven generations of this lineup have made their market debut. And now the brand has launched a new marketing campaign to showcase the next generation models of their number series. Redmi’s latest buzz on social media indicates that they are gearing up to launch a new Redmi number series smartphone in the Indian market, which will come under the name Redmi 12. Notably, the Redmi 12 was launched in the Thailand market last month and it is expected to enter the market soon. Let’s take a look at what is known so far.

Redmi 12 may be launched soon in the Indian market

Xiaomi’s social media posts did not mention anything about the Redmi 12 or the upcoming Redmi 9 series smartphones. However, it points to the arrival of a new Redmi number series smartphone. So it is expected that the company will share the teaser within the next few days.

As mentioned earlier, the Redmi 12 smartphone was recently launched in the Thailand market. MediaTek Helio G88 processor is used in it. The front of the phone features an LCD display with a centered punch-hole notch, offering a 90Hz refresh rate and FullHD+ resolution. This latest Redmi smartphone features a 50-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The Redmi 12 offers a large 5,000mAh battery and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Redmi 12 specifications and features

Redmi 12 features a 6.79-inch LCD display with FullHD+ (1080 × 2400 pixels) resolution, 396 ppi pixel density, 90 Hz refresh rate, 550 nits peak brightness, 1,500:1 contrast ratio and 70% NTSC ( Supports NTSC) color gamut. The device is powered by MediaTek Helio G88 processor coupled with Arm Mali G52 GPU for graphics. This phone comes with 4GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB eMMC 5.1 storage. Redmi 12 runs on MIUI 14 software version based on Android 13.

For photography, the Redmi 12 features a triple camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and an LED flash. And there is an 8 megapixel selfie camera on the front of the phone. For power backup, the Redmi 12 uses a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.

Also, the phone includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack. The phone’s connectivity options include dual-SIM, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo. Redmi 12 measures 168.60 × 76.28 × 8.17 mm and weighs 198.5 grams. The phone comes with IP53 water and dust resistance rating and is available in Sky Blue, Polar Silver and Midnight Black colors.
