Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro entered the market last November. Both phones are powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 chipset. Vivo fans were hoping that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Vivo X100 Pro+ would also launch alongside the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro, but that didn’t happen. Several reports later claimed that the phone has been renamed Vivo X100 Ultra and could debut in the second quarter of the year. Recently Vice President of Vivo Products, Huang Tao confirmed on social media that the company will soon launch a phone with satellite connectivity support. This indicates that Vivo X100 Ultra launch is not too long away.
Vivo is going to launch a satellite communication enabled phone soon
Several reports claim that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Vivo X100 Ultra will have support for two-way satellite communication. This will make the Vivo smartphone rival the likes of Oppo Find X7 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra – handsets with satellite connectivity.
In remote areas where conventional cellular connectivity is unavailable, individuals can connect directly to satellites using their mobile phones for emergency communications. Satellite connectivity can be a very useful tool in such challenging environments.
According to recent reports, the Vivo X100 Ultra will feature a 50-megapixel LYT-900 primary camera, which will support variable aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). The camera setup is also expected to include ultra-wide lens, telephoto camera and periscope telephoto camera. The Periscope sensor will likely offer 200 megapixel resolution with support for 4.3x optical zoom, up to 200x digital zoom and 100mm focal length.
Note that apart from Vivo X100 Ultra, the company is also said to be working on the X100s series of smartphones. Reports suggest that the Vivo X100s and X100s Pro will be powered by the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset. Vivo X100 Ultra and X100s series may debut in China in May.
