iPhone 17 Pro camera specifications
A popular Chinese tipster digital chat station claims that Apple will use the same camera as last year's iPhone 16 Pro series. That means the iPhone 17 Pro will retain the triple-lens rear camera setup of its predecessor. There is a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 48-megapixel ultrawide sensor and a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.
The report also states that both the primary and telephoto lenses will use a combination of glass and plastic, known as GP lenses. However, while the back camera remains unchanged, the selfie camera is hinted at getting an upgrade. The front camera of the iPhone 17 Pro series may be upgraded from 12-megapixel to 24-megapixel.
Note that Apple has made significant changes to the camera hardware with the iPhone 16 Pro series. As such, a new 48-megapixel fusion camera, updated 48-megapixel ultrawide camera and a dedicated camera control button have been added to the lineup. If the hardware setup remains the same, the iPhone 17 Pro series is expected to see major changes in software.
