This will be 20% more in the iPhone 16 series than the current iPhone

Apple is going to unveil the new iPhone 16 series in the second half of this year. The flagship smartphones of this lineup are likely to be launched by September. But as usual, speculations are going on in the tech world about these devices long before that. And now a tipster claims that the iPhone 16 Pro will offer a brighter display than its predecessor, the iPhone 15 Pro model. Let's get into this in detail.

Details regarding the brightness of the iPhone 16 Pro phone have come forward

Tipster Instant Digital claimed in its recent Weibo (Chinese microblogging site) post that the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro model will have a manual or typical peak brightness of 1,200 nits, which is 20% higher than the iPhone 15 Pro smartphone's 1,000 nit rating. He also said that the iPhone 16 Pro will offer an “exciting 1600” nits of brightness. This is a bit confusing as both the iPhone 14 Pro and 15 Pro are already capable of offering 2,000 nits of brightness in High Brightness Mode (HBM).

The publication 925Mac noted in their report that the maximum brightness of the iPhone 15 Pro's display reaches 1,600 nits when displaying HDR content. If this is true, the upcoming iPhone Pro model could boast an impressive 1,600 nits peak brightness when displaying HDR content, meaning the brightness level will remain the same in the new model.

It should be noted that Tipster Instant Digital has a mixed track record when it comes to disclosing Apple-related information. He has provided accurate information several times before, including the launch timeline of last year's iPhone 14 in yellow shades, the frosted back glass of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, support for spatial video in the iPhone 15 Pro model, and a small refresh of the Apple Watch Series 8 smartwatches. A lot more.

Note that modern smartphones are programmed to reach different brightness levels based on different lighting conditions. Although there may be different terms, the concept is quite simple. “Manual” or typical peak brightness refers to the maximum brightness level that the phone provides in indoor (low brightness) lighting. Next is HBM (Heat Brightness Mode), which offers high brightness in strong outdoor lighting. In addition, some modern smartphones enable a surprisingly high “local peak brightness” for HDR content. In this case, only a small portion of the display reaches high brightness levels based on content.

However, it's not entirely clear what the tipster means by the term “Excitation 1600” on the iPhone 16 Pro model. However, increased manual peak brightness is often practical.
