This is the first time Vivo is planning to launch a folding phone outside of China, Xiaomi-Samsung is in tension

The Vivo X Fold 3 series was launched in China yesterday, consisting of two foldable smartphones – the standard Vivo X Fold 3 and the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. It is believed that the company plans to launch the most advanced i.e. Pro model in the global market. Fueling speculation, the global variant of the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro has been spotted on Indonesia’s SDPPI certification website, indicating that it could make its debut outside of China soon. This means that this is the first Vivo foldable phone to come to the global market.

Vivo X Fold 3 Pro gets SDPPI approval

A new Vivo phone has been listed on Indonesia’s SDPPI certification site with certification number 98278/SDPPI/2024, model number V2330 and name Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. The presence of the phone in the certification database indicates that it may enter the global market very soon and it is going to be the first foldable handset of the Vivo brand in the global market. Note that until now the company’s folding form factor devices were limited to the Chinese market.

Notably, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro offers a robust “Armor Feather” body and an improved hinge for durability and reduced screen creasing. The Pro model is 11.2mm slim when folded and 5.2mm thin when open and weighs just 236g. It has an 8.03-inch foldable OLED display and a 6.53-inch OLED cover display with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The screen supports 120 Hz refresh rate and 4,500 nits peak brightness.

The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Vivo X Fold 3 Pro runs on Android 14-based OriginOS 4 custom skin. And in terms of power backup, the handset is powered by a 5,700mAh battery, which supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging technology.

Also for photography, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro’s rear camera system includes a 50-megapixel OV50H primary sensor, a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens. And for selfies and video calling, a 32-megapixel front camera is placed above the phone’s primary and cover screens.
