New AI-feature is going to be added to Oppo Reno 11 series
Oppo said that the new Oppo AI Center will be their dedicated research and development wing, which will focus on AI and its applications. It will bring a wide range of user-centric AI products and features to users around the world. This indicates that Oppo may launch dedicated AI hardware like Humane’s AI Pin and Rabbit R1.
However, this will be the company’s long-term development. Meanwhile, in the short term, Oppo is bringing new AI features to its Reno 11 series. The lineup includes the standard Oppo Reno 11 and Reno 11 Pro – these two models. While not revealing the detailed list of features coming to these smartphones, the company has said that the AI Eraser Tool capable of removing unwanted objects and people from the background of any image will be added to the series. The Chinese brand also confirmed that the AI features will hit the global market by the second quarter of 2024.
In this context, Oppo’s Chief Product Officer, Pete Lao, said that, after feature phones and smartphones, next-generation smartphones will represent the third major transformational phase in the mobile phone industry. In the age of AI smartphones, both the mobile phone industry and the user experience – will witness a revolutionary change.
Also, Oppo has outlined four important pillars of an ideal AI-ready smartphone. They highlighted the efficiency aspect in using computational resources to meet the demand for generative AI, self-learning capabilities and multimodal content creation capabilities. The company also said that AI smartphones will also be aware of the world around them in real-time through various sensors to understand users as well as their environment.
