Sony is making advanced phones with the help of AI, will have a triple camera setup

Speculations have been rife for the past few weeks that Sony is working on a new flagship smartphone under its Xperia 1 lineup, which could hit the market in the second quarter of this year. This model will reportedly debut as the Sony Xperia 1 VI. A recent report claimed that the phone will come with three state-of-the-art 48-megapixel Exmor T sensors. But now, new sources claim, the Xperia 1 VI’s main camera will only be 48 megapixels, not the other two.

Sony Xperia 1 VI camera hardware may disappoint fans

According to a post on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo, the Sony Xperia 1 VI’s camera setup will include a 48-megapixel 1/1.35 main camera with f/1.9 aperture and 24mm focal length, along with f/2.2 aperture and 16mm focal length. There will be a 12-megapixel 1/2.5 ultra-wide angle lens and a 12-megapixel f/2.3, 85mm, f/2.8, 125mm, 1/3.5 telephoto cameras. It is believed to be the same camera hardware found in the predecessor Xperia 1V, which debuted last year with the Exmor T sensor.

If this camera configuration is correct, it is possible that Sony is deciding to focus on software improvements rather than hardware on their new flagship, perhaps with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). Sony Xperia 1 VI is very likely to get a design change.

A recent report revealed that Sony will ditch the 21:9 aspect ratio from their upcoming Xperia flagship and replace it with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio for mainstream smartphones. As a result, the upcoming device will be shorter in length and wider than the previous models.
