Samsung is falling behind in the fight with Chinese brands, disappointing camera news

Samsung's next-generation foldable smartphones are currently at the center of attention in tech circles. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 are being leaked daily. But now information has surfaced courtesy of a reliable tipster, which may disappoint Samsung fans hoping for a camera upgrade with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 phone. He claims that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 handset will have the same cameras as its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which was similar to the previous generation Galaxy Z Fold 4. That is, the handset will offer the same camera setup as the two-year-old model.

The camera setup of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 phone will not see any changes

Tipster Ice Universe claims that, “All camera specifications including front camera, rear camera, under panel camera and aperture value will remain the same on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 phone and no changes will be seen.

That is, the camera setup of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 handset includes the same 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 10-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and 3x optical zoom, and f/2.2 aperture and 123-degree field of view. There will be a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens with off-view. The main and telephoto lens will likely retain optical image stabilization (OIS) support. It appears that Samsung's pace of innovation in foldable phones has slowed in recent years, while Chinese brands like Vivo and Oppo have continued to improve.

For example, the latest Vivo X Fold 3 Pro holds the title of the lightest foldable phone in the folding phone market. Despite having a larger 5,700 mAh battery than some well-known bar phones like the iPhone 15 Pro Max handset, it weighs considerably less at just 236 grams. Also, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro phone has an impressive camera setup which is probably the best foldable camera phone.

Samsung, on the other hand, has kept the list of upgrades to its folding phone pretty minimal, only bringing some generational upgrades like a new processor. This year, though, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 handset could see a significant change in design. Samsung plans to offer a wider cover screen so that it feels like a conventional phone when closed. Besides, no source has so far hinted at any major changes or upgrades to the upcoming foldable.
