Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 coming with a 200 megapixel camera for the first time? What the new report says

It was recently rumored that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 foldable phone will use a 200-megapixel primary rear sensor similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra model. But now it seems that this news is not true. In fact, tipster Revegnus reported today that the upcoming flagship model will offer the same 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN3 image sensor as its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Tipster Ice Universe also made the same claim for a book-style Samsung device. Even GalaxyClub agrees with the two tipsters, saying that the South Korean tech giant won’t make any improvements in the camera department of their latest foldable model. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 phone will have a 50-megapixel main camera, just like its predecessor and the Samsung Galaxy S24.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be launched with a primary sensor of 50 megapixels instead of 200 megapixels

There’s a special reason the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 model isn’t using a 200-megapixel primary sensor. The 200 megapixel camera used in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra phone is quite large in size. There are reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 phone will be thinner than its predecessor. For this, it will use a new hinge design, due to which the phone will be about 11 mm thin even when closed. In such a case, the slim form factor of the device seems to stand in the way of fitting a sensor as large as 200 megapixels. That’s why the company may have decided to offer a rear camera with the same resolution as its predecessor.

Let me give you an example of why the phone will be thicker due to the use of larger sensors. The OnePlus Open phone used a 3x telephoto large 64-megapixel sensor (sensor size – 1/2.0-inch). Which had an impact on the measurement. That means the device is 11.7mm thick when folded for this sensor. As a result, given the 200 megapixel sensor, the camera module of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 foldable phone will naturally have to be expanded. As a result the handset will no longer be thin, but rather thicker when folded.

As a result, Samsung can no longer keep the promise of ‘slim form factor’ design offering with this upcoming foldable model! So maybe the tech giant has to decide to give a 50 megapixel sensor instead of 200 megapixels in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 phone.
