Samsung today (7th June) confirmed the timeline for their next ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event. It is learned that this year the event in question will be held in July instead of August. And in this event Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 smartphones will be launched. Along with these two foldable phones, the company may also bring next-generation smartwatches and tablets at the tech event to be held next month. Samsung has said that for the first time a ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event is going to be held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.
The Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event will be held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam. It is the intersection of two old Buddhist temples, Teheran-ro and Bonjeunsa Explaining the reason for choosing such a location, Samsung said that this unique location will allow the world to experience the fascinating mix of past, present and future, which essentially defines Seoul.
In this regard, TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Experience (MX) Business, Samsung Electronics, said, “There are two important reasons behind hosting the Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul. First, Seoul is a city that thrives on innovation and has become an emerging center of culture in the foldable category. Both factors carry considerable significance.”
A report surfaced last month, claiming that Samsung could launch the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones early this year. However, at that time or till now, Samsung has not shared anything about the features or design of these upcoming devices. It’s just been reported that this upcoming foldable series will offer an “enhanced” experience based on technology built on years of research and investment.
But with other companies entering the folding smartphone market recently, Samsung will be under a lot of pressure to retain customers. For example, Google recently unveiled the Pixel Fold smartphone in select regional markets. Also earlier this year, Tecno entered the foldable segment with the most affordable foldable smartphone Phantom V Fold. On the other hand, OnePlus is expected to launch its first folding phone in India and globally next month. And Motorola has already launched the Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra globally and plans to bring them to India soon. As a result, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 smartphones are facing multiple competitors, now it’s time to see who can become the best of the best in the foldable segment this year.
