Almost every Android smartphone brand has succeeded in bringing at least one foldable phone to market in recent years. OnePlus is the only leading smartphone maker yet to unveil a foldable handset with its branding. It has been rumored for a long time that the brand is working on a foldable and it is believed that this folding phone will finally hit the market next August. However, every report that has surfaced so far regarding the device has revealed all the details, including its actual name, based on speculation. Some in the tech world say it will be called the OnePlus Fold, while others think the foldable will be marketed as the OnePlus V Fold. But now, a popular tipster is hinting that OnePlus will market the phone under a completely different name. Let’s find out about it.
“OnePlus Open” – Is this going to be the name of OnePlus’ first foldable?
Tipster Max Zambor says that OnePlus has taken a different approach when it comes to naming its first foldable phone. Instead of calling it OnePlus Fold, the company will market it as OnePlus Open. It’s a novel choice as a foldable name, but the name could be a ploy for OnePlus to differentiate their foldable phone from the competition. But if the name OnePlus Open isn’t to your liking, be happy to know that the company is still considering names like OnePlus Wing, OnePlus Edge, OnePlus Prime, and OnePlus Peak. Although, this marketing name does not sound very flashy, but it is not worse than the conventional “Fold” and “Flip”. A recent report revealed that OnePlus is planning to launch its first foldable on or before August 19.
According to sources, the OnePlus foldable will have an 8-inch QHD+ foldable OLED (OLED) primary display and a 6.5-inch FullHD+ OLED secondary panel. The device is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It is also said that the OnePlus foldable will be a rebranded version of the Oppo Find N3 and will likely be limited to the Chinese market. The upcoming foldable is also claimed to support wireless charging.
