London-based start-up Nothing is said to be launching its second smartphone, the Nothing Phone (2), in the US, India and other markets in July. The exact launch date of the phone is yet to be announced by the company. But ahead of its launch, the brand has released various information through their official Twitter handle. Recently, the company announced that the Nothing Phone (2) will come with a bigger battery and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. Also, Nathing has informed that the device will be manufactured in India. Even just yesterday, renders of the Nothing Phone (2) surfaced courtesy of renowned tipster Steve Hammerstoffer aka Onlix. However, within hours of their leak, the company’s founder and CEO Carl Pei tweeted that the images were “fakes”.
The leaked image of Nothing Phone (2) is not real
Leaked renders reveal that the Nothing Phone (2) will feature the same design language as its predecessor Phone (1) with some minor changes. However, shortly after posting these renders, Nothing’s Chief Executive Officer Carl Pei wrote only the word “fake” in a tweet. post did With this tweet, the CEO is probably hinting that the leaked Nothing Phone (2) render is fake.
It’s worth noting that when the tipster posted the renders of the Nothing Phone (2), he claimed that they were based on live images of a testing stage unit. That means it’s possible that the design will see some minor changes till the official launch.
Incidentally, the renders shared by Onlix showed that the Nothing Phone (2) has slim bezels and a punch-hole cutout across the display. A dual-camera setup is seen on the rear panel of the handset. Apart from the camera module, the nothing phone’s signature LED light strips have been redesigned.
Also according to the renders, the frame of the Phone (2) will be slightly rounded, resulting in a more comfortable grip and a premium experience. The LED flash on the rear shell has been upgraded to a dual-LED configuration, as well as a possibly significant change to the wireless charging coil, as it features multiple small strips. However, how true these are, is now a big question.
Note that Nothing Phone (2) is confirmed to have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. The refresh rate of the handset can be 120 Hz. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, it was previously reported. According to a listing on benchmarking site Geekbench, it will offer a maximum of 12GB of RAM. In terms of software, the Nothing Phone (2) will run on the latest Android 13 operating system. And for power backup, there will be a 4,700 mAh battery.
