In the Union Budget 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced reduction of import duty on several products including mobile phones, chargers. Then came the good news from Apple. The US tech giant has announced a 3-4 percent price cut for its premium iPhones in India.
The iPhone Pro or Pro Max model has been reduced by Rs 5100 to Rs 6000. On the other hand, the price of Made-in-India iPhones — iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 15 — has been reduced by Rs. And iPhone SE (Third Denomination), known as the smallest and cheapest iPhone, will cost 2300 rupees less.
Incidentally, this is the first time Apple has cut the price of their Pro model. The move is believed to be due to the reduction of custom duty on mobile phones from 20 percent to 15 percent. The maximum retail price or MRP of the company's Pro model has never gone down in the past. Apple usually discontinues older Pro models after the launch of new models. Dealers and resellers are seen giving discounts just to clear inventory.
