Honor recently launched its flagship smartphone, the Honor Magic 6 Pro, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024) event held in Barcelona, Spain. It has the world’s first 180 megapixel periscope camera as well as all the awesome features. According to a group of experts, the new phone will give Samsung and Apple a tough fight. The now well-known benchmarking platform, DxOMark, pointed in that direction. The first analysis of the phone they have released shows that the Honor Magic 6 Pro beats even the latest flagships from Samsung and Apple in some cases.
Honor Magic 6 Pro outperforms Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone in DxOMark test
DXOMark’s assessment highlighted the Honor Magic 6 Pro’s impressive 6.8-inch AMOLED display, which surpassed the previous top model, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, to take the top spot in the ranking. With a score of 157 points, the Magic 6 Pro beats the Galaxy S24 Ultra by two points and the Google Pixel 8 Pro by three points. There, Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max is in tenth place with 149 points.
Honor Magic 6 Pro has been praised by DXOMark for its exceptional motion management, which gives users a great experience for watching videos or playing games. The phone’s smooth playback and minimal motion blur contribute to the top scores for Motion. However, DXOMark’s tests also revealed some of the display’s limitations, such as noticeable color shift and distracting patterns at extreme viewing angles in low-light conditions when viewing monochrome content.
Apart from the display, the Honor Magic 6 Pro excels in other areas as well. DxOMark’s battery test highlights the phone’s large battery and efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and here too the phone scored the highest score with 157 points. The phone offers impressive runtime, lasting 35 hours for calls, 50 hours for music streaming and 15 hours for gaming. However, prolonged use of the camera reduced the battery life to around 4 hours and 39 minutes. But it is not very surprising.
Finally, the Honor Magic 6 Pro’s 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle selfie camera also impressed analysts at DxOMark. It also beats the iPhone 15 Pro Max. One of the reasons for that is the Magic 6 Pro’s ability to take sharp group selfies with a wide depth of field and overall high resolution images. The selfie camera has been praised for its white balance, color reproduction, noise control, and dynamic range, though it loses some detail in low light due to extensive noise reduction, and video sharpness has been inconsistent at times.
